Sense of Place - Sense of Self

Sense of Place - Sense of Self

The programme

Includes short presentations, field instruction and daily discussion.

We focus on:

Becoming mindful to respond to the subtle voice of our intuition

Finding subjects and creating compositions during our explorations of the small towns of Langebaan, Paternoster and Velddrif on the West Coast of South Africa

Identifying with our Sense of Self throughout the creative process

We also check in with our inner landscape as we wander through the landscapes, seascapes and streetscapes while perfecting our skills to see and interpret the elements and textures of the West Coast

Creating a personal portfolio of images that represent each photographer’s journey

The Retreat is designed for

Both beginners and advanced photographers, each person works on his/her own portfolio with the skills you have. (that said, you do need to have the basic skills to operate your camera and be able to do basic post production editing on your computer software)

Photographic explorers and travellers at heart enjoying and discovering new destinations and cultures

Enthusiasts that love conversing and sharing ideas and experiences and having fun along the way

“Photography and Traveling have the amazing gifts of liberating us from comfort zones, change our perceptions and take us on inner and outer journeys.” – Susan

Langebaan is located approximately 1.5 hour drive from Cape Town on the West Coast of South Africa.

Our excursions will lead us into the West Coast National Park in the middle of the Wild flower season to capture the beauty of colourful carpets of wild flowers, the blue azure West Coast coastline and other land- and seascapes. We might be so lucky to have sightings of tortoises, wildebeest, zebra, oryx, eland, ostriches, flamingo’s and other numerous birds species

We’ll also explore the fishing towns of Paternoster and Velddrif, taste the local cuisine and meet the warm-hearted people of the West Coast.

With our accommodation a short 2-minute walk from Langebaan Lagoon Beach, we’ll have plenty of photographic opportunities along the beach or relax on the beach during free time or enjoying sundowners at the beach front restaurants close by.

The West Coast is Waiting for You!
